Chants to the Most Holy Mother of God

Masterpieces of orthodox music

«Chants to the Most Holy Mother of God» stand independently in a number of numerous secular programs of the Moscow Choral Theatre of B. Pevzner. This program is made of masterpieces of orthodox music of several centuries from single voice chant by tzar Feodor (XVII cent.) up to the developed compositions of geniuses of Russian romanticism Tchaikovsky, Grechaninov, Rachmaninov and also reflects the stages of development of the Russian orthodox choral writing.

In spite of the fact that the Choral Theatre is the ensemble of soloists, in this work masterful possession of ensemble and vocal-choral techniques are shown: refined sound conducting, polychromatic palette of timbres, deep comprehension of performing tradition with preservation of an individual hallmark.

Uniqueness of the given disk is that even in this traditional canonical choral genre which doesn't make a basis of repertoire of the collective, the basic principle of drawing up of the program became aspiration of the Theatre to creation of musical compositions and even cycles united by an internal plot, a uniform art core and dramatic art of development (that is the creative credo of the ensemble). In this sense the Theatre does not betray the way of playing music created by it «Concert in Persons».
